Friday, February 27th

Today we practiced counting to four and writing fours. I get my worksheets from www.learningpage.com. If you live in the Keller School district, we use Denelian style writing.

We talked about Signs today. We looked at signs that would be in buildings and road signs. We also talked about their meaning.

For our craft we made a map with a lot of signs on it. After the children were finished with it, they used matchbox cars to drive through their towns.

We played a game called “Using Your Head.” I asked questions and the children had to shake their head yes or no with their answer. It was really tough not to talk.

We sand “Ten Little Raindrops.” We used our fingers as signs to show the number we were singing.

I gave the children each a paper with four shapes on it. They had to make signs out of them with their crayons. When they were finished, they cut them out and glued them on another piece of paper.

Thursday, February 26th

We had an alphabet scavenger hunt. I scattered foam letters. The children collected them and then we put them in order singing the letter sound song for each one.

We had a Pink Show and Tell for Pink Day. Thank you for bringing your pink things!

We got to sing a song with actions, “One Finger, One Thumb.”

Our craft was an accordion book, “One Day I Woke Up Pink.”

I read the children the book, “Pinkalicious.” It was a really cute story about a girl who turned pink from eating too many pink cupcakes. The only thing that cured her was eating green stuff.

We play, “Here’s a Heart for You.” It was farmer in the dell with a few changes to make it fit into our pink theme.

Our last activity for Pink day was to use our pinkie and ink to make pinkie prints.

Tuesday, February 24th

We started our day with a review of the number 3. We practiced writing it.

Today was triangle day! During circle time we looked at a square, rectangle, circle, and triangle. We talked about what made a triangle.

For our craft we made Travis the Triangle, which involved cutting, gluing, and drawing.

We did the Triangle Reach, a song with actions.

We colored and cut out a number three. Everyone’s cutting is improving. After they finished cutting they glued it down on construction paper in a color of their choosing.

Our last activity was to paint poster board triangles. The children got to chose two colors of paint.

Thursday, February 19th

We reviewed the number 2 and practiced writing it.

During circle time we talked about noses. We looked at pictures of animals and compared their noses. We also talked about what we use our nose for. Tyler’s answer was my favorite, “Getting my boggers out.”

Our craft was to make an Over the Moon Valentine. It turned out cute.

The children enjoyed listening to the flannel board story, “The Silly Seal.”

For our game the children had to roll a ball across the floor with only their nose.

Our last activity was to cut out a 2, color it, and glue it onto another paper. I want them to be more proficient with scissors, so we will be don’t a lot more of these activities.

Tuesday, February 17th

My college roommate Joi was visiting, so she helped us out at preschool.

We learned about the letter R and practiced writing it.

During circle time we learned about President’s Day and the two presidents we honor. I told them a few facts about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. We also talked about our current president, President Obama. I asked the children what the president of the United States does. Here are some of their responses.

“Works hard.” – Gavin

“Helps us do things that we can’t do.” – RenĂ©e

“Tells us to obey the commandments.” – Tyler

“Tells us not to watch bad TV shows.” – Sydney

Our craft was to make an American Eagle. The children had a fun time flying them around when they were done.

I read the children the book, “Meet George Washington.” They learned a little more about our first president from it.

We also talked about quarters and pennies and looked at our presidents faces on them. We also did crayon rubbings from them.

We played follow the leader before our outside play time.
