Happy birthday, Sydney! Thank you for bringing yummy cookies to share. Everyone loved them.
A is for apple and we learned the A sound. We also practiced writing the capital and lower case A.
We learned whey our names our special and why we have names. Then we sang, “My Name Is Brian,” where we got to insert everyone’s names into the song. I read Hooray for Me, which is one of my favorite children’s books. We did a name dance where the kids got to think of an action and say their names. Most chose the summersault but the second time around some wanted to show me how fast they could run, all where very impressive.
We had our first flannel board story about Johnny Appleseed. Then we got to paint pictures of our very own apple trees. Everyone told me how much they loved to paint and some discovered that if you mix green and red you make brown.
Our craft was to make a name plate. There was even more cutting involved in this craft so we split into two groups to complete it. Everyone had to cut on the red lines and then cut out the letters that would make their name. It was a lot of cutting, which is really good practice.
